New Balance 993 Made In USA QR codes?

I bought my first pair of New Balance shoes and I decided to go with classic 993 Made In USA model.

I already wear them for quite a whole and they seem legit to me as I bought them from official NB website (loc. Germany).

However, I read online that QR code from the tongue should lead to the "verification website" or something along the lines. When I scan my I just get the data from the label + google search: W2405 WXT0722 MR993BK D 12 883905366842

Is it normal for these QR codes or should they always lead to website?
