Senior dog and kidney problems

Question

Hello everyone,

I have an 11-year-old Husky who has been completely healthy until now. Five months ago, he had a major issue that required surgery, but he recovered amazingly well, like a young dog. They did a blood test at the time, which was excellent, and we were told that all his organs were in good condition.

Unfortunately, in the past month and a half, he has ended up at the vet three times. The first time, he had an episode where the vet said he had been poisoned, but he recovered from that. The second time, he was lethargic, and the vet concluded that he was in pain due to his bones. She also suggested that his first "episode" was probably related to that and recommended starting Librela. Then yesterday, he was lethargic again, so they did another blood test, which showed elevated kidney values.

Now, we have been given seven rounds of antibiotics and a special diet, with a follow-up in seven days.

To say we are in shock is an understatement—everything happened so fast. Has anyone experienced something similar? If anyone has even a little bit of comfort or positive experiences to share, it would mean a lot to us…
