Hi everyone,

I am conducting a small research survey on chess ability. I have designed a 10-question chess puzzle quiz to assess how well players can identify the next best move and whether they can annotate it correctly. If you're interested in testing your ability to analyze and annotate your next move, I'd love for you to participate! All ratings are welcome. You must be 18 years or older. I have also received permission from the mod team to make this post.

This test is written answer in short algebraic chess notation. First, identify the next best move, then write the annotated answer in the textbox. On average, players take about 10 minutes to complete this test, but completion times may be lower or higher depending on your rating.

I am a college student and I created this quiz survey for my final project in a Psychometrics course. The only aspects of your submission I can view are what you answered for each question (including the demographic question) and how long all of your responses took. These puzzles have been peer-reviewed, but their answers may not be perfect. Please reach out to me if any of the answers presented in the test are incorrect.
