Shed plug socket

Bought our house a couple years ago and there was already an armoured underground electric cable which goes to the shed but is not connected (end is just covered coming out the ground just outside the shed). Bearing in mind I'm not a sparky, could I diy a plug socket in the shed from the underground cable? I've wired an oven into the mains before but that's about it.
