Breakfast
I want to make breakfast with you
Hear the sizzling of the bacon in the oven
Your eggs in a skillet
I miss the little dances we did in that kitchen
Music lightly playing
Your name falls from my lips like syrup
Thank goodness I’m making pancakes.
I want to take our plates - stacked tall with food we won’t finish - back to the bedroom
Makeshift TV trays
A movie I said I would watch
The sweet smiles you gave me when you noticed I was distracted by you
Cuddles under the quilts
Drifting off to sleep again
I want to make breakfast with you
I miss the way it felt when things were different
I don’t care about the truth
I know how you feel
I don’t believe you that it was never anything
I don’t believe anyone that says I’m just lonely
You would still be the you I miss
If anyone else had broken my heart
Will you come over?
Can we make breakfast together?
