Sod from your own nursery
So I actually don’t really have a dedicated nursery (yet!) but I do have really healthy areas I’m willing to tear up for more visible areas.
The village I live in is going to fix a needed sidewalk area as it’s a big enough hazard for kids bikes and scooters. It’s a 50/50 split so I pay half along with the village.
Included in the cost is the contractor places topsoil, seed and mulch as they said 6-12” of turf is ripped out from each side of the sidewalk.
It’ll be year 3 of a newly established lawn which I selected the cultivars myself (KBG) and have put in a lot of work to make it look great.
At first, I thought about just asking the contractors to use the extra seed I have but I’m now debating if I can cut and transfer sod from one area and repair it this way. Im also wondering if I should have MDF boards around so they can drive the concrete machine over it instead of raw grass.
Any thoughts and other ideas welcome!
