Why Are You Even Grinding for FAANG & GATE When Govt Officers Are Making 100s of Crores Through Bribes?

General

Serious question - why are you preparing for FAANG interviews, GATE, or MBA when state government officers are making tens and even hundreds of crores with ease? (If tech or research is your passion, this post isn’t for you.)

  • I recently posted on r/askindia and r/upsc about how much government officers actually earn, and the numbers were mind-blowing.
  • Check my post history—you’ll see exactly how these officers build insane wealth through bribes.

Corporate vs. Govt Officers

  • Even after years of grinding LeetCode, CP, and system design, you won’t even touch the kind of money a state-level babu makes.
  • Even if you somehow reach ₹2 CPA in a top corporate job (which is rare), 40% of that will go straight to these same officers through taxes (direct and GST), bribes, and extortion.
  • In short, you’ll be working 4-5 months a year just to fund their son’s Porsche.

Work-Life Balance & Effort

  • A decent govt officer works barely 200 days a year, has great WLB, and still makes at least ₹10 crore+.
  • Meanwhile, you’re grinding for FAANG or GATE, just to end up earning less and working more.
  • Govt job exams like SSC CGL, state PSCs, or even judicial services make way more sense than the FAANG rat race.
  • A district judge handles 2,000–5,000 cases, and even if they take bribes in just 100 cases, they can make a fortune with god-level treatment.

You Have the Ability, So What’s Stopping You?

  • Many of you can crack state government exams with decent effort, and the top performers here could even clear UPSC CSE or state civil services.
  • I’ve also heard, read, and seen cases where government jobs can be directly bought by paying bribes ranging from ₹30 lakh to ₹10 crore, depending on the position.

So, Why Are You Still Chasing FAANG, M.Tech or MBA?

Is it dogma? Herd mentality? Fear? Or are you just too conditioned to be an honest person who loves playing status games while they enjoy life?

Let’s have a healthy discussion in the comments!
