What are some examples of experts being off?

Can people share examples of how experts just can't figure it out unless we go to God for answers. I've got one. Cosmic inflation and dark energy. I guess 90+% of all energy is something we are just making up and have no evidence for bc our best scientists can't explain how the big bang fits the data. They really are experts. They really are the best. This is their best. Made up stuff.
