[0 YoE, Software Engineer Intern, Software Engineer or Developer, United States]
I am a career changer and am finishing up my degree in computer information systems with a specialization in software development in May. I am going to start applying for jobs and have spent a few days polishing up my resume using a template and the wiki from the EngineeringResumes subreddit. I have over 10 years of retail experience before teaching, but did not include that as it's mostly irrelevant. My SO, a senior developer but never a hiring manager, thinks it's too wordy.
I've heard mixed advice about keeping the dates on my previous degrees as it could result in ageism, so I'm still undecided on whether to keep or remove them.
I'm going to focus my applications on local government jobs in the Florida county I'm in, but also apply broadly to have the best chance at getting my foot in the door.
Thank you in advance for any advice and comments!
