Nervous about starting as a surveying assistant with no experience
I'm starting a new job soon in the area of road asset management as a final year civil engineering undergraduate. I'm mainly going to help surveying teams, and also do a little bit of GIS asset mapping work and other little things. I might be getting some kind of imposter syndrome as the starting date comes closer, I don't have any experience in surveying and only have some knowledge of GIS and pavement engineering from uni studies. I've never done like a site inspection.
And on top of that this job will be my first office/engineering job, and I expect it to be totally different from what I'm used to (working in hospitality). Having departments and everything being so formal is so foreign to me. I'm particularly scared of not being able to complete tasks/assignments fast enough since I've never done it in a workplace setting, and just basically not living up to the expectations of my supervisor. I think I may have oversold myself a tiny bit in the interview, but I didn't lie and they said they liked me which really surprised me since I felt like I only had a bit of relevant knowledge/experience from uni.
I'm going to try my best to brush up on my skills and learn as I go, but if anyone has gone through something similar or has anything to share I would greatly appreciate it!
