Implementing changes to Rehomed Bearded Dragon

Recently my friend decided to re-home their bearded dragon and he has started living with me (yay!). I’ve been reading a ton online but have read so many conflicting things and wanted to ask some people who have done this successfully haha. He is a very cuddly 2 1/2 year old named Mr. Chai.

He currently is on a diet of super worms and the dried food. I am aware this is bad. What are people’s recommendations as I swap him to daily salads to get him to eat?

He has not been interested in crickets or dubias so am planning to stick with calcium dusted superworms, but wanted some help on the best way to gut load them, and how many I should give a week? Many say feed 3-4x as many as he can eat, but I am worried about him being a bit overweight from his mainly insect diet thus far.
