Double insulation

We have a cold closet that bumps into the garage attic so it gets cold. It already has some solid insulation on the walls applied in the attic. If I add some more insulation to the 2x4 wall in the attic, does it matter if it has a vapor barrier? Existing insulation already provides a vapor barrier.
