Proving nationality

I’m attempting to collate all the docs to claim nationality via descent - but I’m finding it hard to prove my grandma was German at the time of my father’s birth.

She married an English man but never had a passport or anything until 15 years after my father’s birth. How can I prove she never gave her citizenship up, when she never had a German passport Or an English one?
