How long does it take for fiber internet to be activated?

It's been a week since they gave us the modem and installed fiber in our house, and all we have to do is wait for it to be activated.

Is it normal for it to take this long? I've tried going to the nearby Algerie Telecom office and calling their customer service numbers (100, 12 etc) but all they tell me is that it's an automated system which activates internet. I have neighbours who got it activated so I have no clue what to do.
