Me 15F has a crush on this guy 15M but I get second thoughts about him, is this okay?

So I'm in this cool group and i ended up having a crush on one of the guys in the group. my close friend (who's also friend with him) embarrassed me , she shouted that I said I found him cute and tried to make us be really close to eachother face to face..

Her and another friend are trying to put me on with him, which I don't mind, but at the same time I'm scared of his response. He's funny and I find him cute but my friend says that he's not the clingy type, he might hold hands and maybe kiss some times but he won't be affective when he's with his friends or alot, also i have really strict parents... Do you think going for it is a good idea..?
