Boyfriend asked for space to figure himself out

Just last week, I was messaging my boyfriend and asked if he is okay (he was acting irritated and a bit off that day and the day prior). After saying that he is allowed to talk to me about his feelings, he constantly said I don’t know, something doesn’t feel right. After this, he messaged me saying that he wants space to figure himself out right now to focus on himself.. I just started uni this day and was really happy. We have been in no contact for a week now and I am feeling very lost on the situation. He keeps sending me a few snaps a day (only to me before getting off the app). I am really upset about the situation and I’m not sure what to do!
