Pokemon Home alternative (pokeAlt)
Please let me know if this is not the correct sub, and I will move this.
I'm a software developer, mostly focused on backend technologies: Java, Python, JS, Node, C#.
I'm also a huge Pokémon fan, although I still need to play the latest additions to the franchise.
Anyway, I want to build a Pokémon Home alternative, a free one. I have basic idea of how I would do it.
Pkhex.core is the core library for the Pkhex software. I could use that to read the save file from the user and then upload it to the HomeAlternative. There, the user (maybe with Google login?) could see their Pokémon and transfer them to HomeAlt. What I would do then is edit the save file to "remove" the Pokémon since they are already in HomeAlt, leveraging Pkhex.core, and then give it back to the user.
The problem? I'm not really good with C++—I haven't really touched it—but I need a way to access the save game, and the easier way would be to read it from the console's memory using a CFW app.
The app itself would be built using web technologies—it's just easier for me. No CFW app there, but it can be accessed from the web browser on the Switch or any other homebrew app that allows embedding a webpage.
The really easy way for me would be to ditch homebrew altogether and do it all web-based, but the user would need to extract their save file and then upload it to the web by themselves, manipulate it there, and then download it again, which can be annoying. But I don't really know what other way I could do it. I'm only really good with backend and web technologies.
I just want people to be able to store their Pokémon without having to pay Nintendo $20 for 60 MB.
Is this too much to tackle?
