I already posted something akin to this, but this has been driving me crazy. I think a reviewer or whomnot said something about a “plot twist hidden in plain sight”? I don’t think it was the Cobel thing, that seemed pretty well hidden (and very good!), so I think it could be this. That or either the >!some outies are innies!< twist. Or both. Or neither.

So uh… *This is not Petey.*

Notice how Ms. Cobel pulls back Petey’s hair revealing a MASSIVE bald spot? And then the frame after, the hair is put back? Petey’s hair was super thick, healthy, feathery, and a much lighter, bluer color. The hair we see here is thin, warm, straightened, balding in spots… it’s not his hair (I mean, isn’t it a morticians job to make sure the dead person’s hair looks good? His hair looked better when he fainted at the gas station, this is shit.) And the eyebrows are off, too. (I don’t think the shaven beard counts. It’s common for dead people to have their facial hair shaven.) Not to mention this scene is conveniently sped up along with the flashes of Petey’s death and funeral video, and Petey is shown upside down.

So this Petey could be his shadow (like we’ve seen with MDR) or a dummy. They’ve been making several references to dummies this season, so maybe. Plus the conversation with Mark and Reghabi: “Who’s in there?” “They know people… at the morgue…”

Also, the potential Lutheran church plot line with Irving and Burt (and Fields?) could lead to this. Otherwise, why else would they mention the church that Petey’s funeral was in? And why/where else are >!Irving and Burt going to take the train?!<

And—the most important thing here—*Gemma and Petey are the only two characters whose names mean STONE.* We know that writers are meticulous with name meanings (even Mr. Dooley, the security guard from The Lexington Letter, and Doug Graner’s name both mean dark. And the whole Helena Leonora Eleanor thing. They’re not fucking around with names.) So… I think Petey is in the testing floor. I mean, we’ve seen 3 other stationary rooms beside Gemma’s, so it wouldn’t be impossible that other people are being tested as well. And if Irving and Petey were close, then that would explain why Irving wants to get back down there so bad. (Of course, it could also be because of Gemma, as he may know her. Although, Irving first started hallucinating right after Petey ran away…)

But why they would put Petey’s chip in a fake Petey I have no idea. Maybe they needed to get rid of the chip so they put it in the fake body they were going to destroy anyways? Or maybe it was a test to see if anyone would take it out (like Irving)? So that’s one of the reasons why Drummond was looking through Irving’s apartment—to find Petey’s chip. And why Ms. Cobel made a necklace of his chip but we haven’t seen it for a while. And why the IMDb cast is a bit off until the episode airs/is close to airing; to avoid spoilers. And if they’re doing the whole love triangle thing with MDR (Mark and Gemma/Helly, Gretchen and Dylan/Dylan) then I don’t think that it’d be Irving and Burt/Fields. I think that Burt >!is his innie!< And if he is, then it’d be Irving and Burt/Petey. So the innie love interests—Helly and Burt—both mean bright. And the outie love interests—Gemma and Petey—both mean stone. It’s a choice between light or stone. Heaven or hell. (Also, Gretchen means pearl. Technically considered a gemstone but not a real stone. It’s fragile; malleable. And Margaret “Peggy”’s name—The Lexington Letter character who “died” in a car crash—also means pearl. Not saying I think Gretchen could die, but maybe. Or just that she has connections/helped with covering up deaths.)

Most people on my Petey and Irving post thought I was absolutely insane, and don’t get me wrong, I *am* insane, but *this*? Something is clearly off here and it went unnoticed (I think) up until a few days ago.

I think I found the “plot twist hidden in plain sight” (possible MASSIVE spoilers 😭)
