Anyone else constantly seeks approval and being afraid of what your parents think?

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask, my apologies if it isn't and I'll remove the post accordingly.

Anyone else constantly seeks approval (especially from the adults in your life even though you're already an adult) and being afraid of what your parents think?

For context I'm in my mid-twenties, a full grown adult and yet I fear the thought of my parents finding out I need glasses. Never needed glasses in my life until now, I'm also aware that I'm the cause for this but I'm also afraid of being chastised for needing them now when they find out.

Even if I'm an adult, is obviously willing to pay for it with my own money and technically they really don't have control over what I do.

Yet I don't feel quite like an adult or feel as "free" as an adult.
