Cold Harbor as a Way to Indoctrinate
We've seen the different views of children and childhood as a theme over and over again. "Childish folly" within the kiercult is seen as weakness. The innies are viewed as children, which means they are subhuman (though obviously still able to work).
Childhood is also seen as the best time to indoctrinate. Have we considered that Cold Harbor is testing making an innie permanent (essentially erasing the outie entirely), as a way to create a world of "children" to indoctrinate?
Things it would explain: "The whole world will be Kier's children." Gemma will "see the world, and the world will see you," at the same time Dr. Mauer "let[s] her go." Kier will take away Mark's pain Possibly Cobel's disappointment that there's no bleed-through with severance (though I'm more inclined to think that Reghabi perfected that portion of the chip, and that's why Cobel wants to see it fail)
What it wouldn't explain: Why Mark has to complete Cold Harbor. Possible explanation is that he has to because he knows Gemma best, and that they can then extrapolate based on the data for implementation to a mass audience.
Thoughts?
