Why do the Smiling Critters’ deaths matter so much?

So we know that the smiling critters from the cutouts are all but confirmed pretty much wiped out. But my question is what makes these smiling critters’ deaths so much more important than all the other smiling critter toys scattered about in the game? For example, If there are like thousands of Hoppy Hopscotch copies, why do we care about THIS Hoppy’s death so much, alongside all the others?

I know Dogday and Catnap are impactful because they were part of the Bigger Bodies Initiative so they’re sort of different, but the others? Are they special or different in some way as well?
