I have Turkish background, so I followed news regarding Limak Construction closely. So, let me tell you something.

As a member of the so-called “Beşli Çete” (“Gang of Five”), Limak Holding has been a significant beneficiary of Turkish government contracts. Between 2013 and 2019, Limak “secured” public tenders totaling approximately 2.1 billion TL through direct procurement methods, raising concerns about transparency and favoritism. Notably, the company participated in major projects like the construction of the Istanbul Airport and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, both of which have been subjects of public debate due to their environmental and economic impacts.

Critics also argue that Limak Holding’s rapid ascent in Turkey’s construction and infrastructure sectors has been marred by allegations of cronyism and concerns over the quality of its projects. The company’s close ties to political figures, particularly President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, have raised questions about the fairness of its contract acquisitions and the standards upheld in its constructions.

In summary, while Limak Holding has positioned itself as a leading player in the construction industry, its practices have raised concerns about ethical standards and construction quality.
