Weight gain/trouble losing weight with GP
(I got a lot of helpful answers from my last post, so I figured it was worth getting some insight from others with GP) :)
Has anyone else with gastroparesis experienced trouble losing weight? It seems that every doctor I talk to has this mindset of “if you’re not losing weight, you’re fine”. Which is really frustrating. I don’t know WHY I’m not losing weight. It’s quite invalidating.
Ever since puberty, I’ve always been slightly overweight. Despite eating normal amounts pre diagnosis and staying relatively active, I was always around 160lbs. I was diagnosed early 2022 with GP after having a really hard time eating without feeling sick. My GP isn’t severe enough to where I vomit often, but I definitely have to limit my intake and be very careful with what I’m eating. Over the last month, my symptoms worsened significantly, and I’ve been having trouble keeping food down every few days. I’ve not lost a single pound, and it doesn’t make sense. Instead I feel like I’ve lost a significant amount of muscle mass. Has anyone else experienced this?
