2012 Tacoma Clutch (?) Noise
I just bought this truck yesterday and it’s super clean. Not sure this is really an issue, but need to get to the bottom of it before my 30 day warranty is up and I’m SOL. Performance is awesome, so my first thought is that it’s probably nothing serious… (famous last words).
It’s a (not loud, but noticeable) whirring/chirping noise that completely goes away with the slightest press of the clutch. It perfectly matches RPM, and it gets more noticeable in 4th gear, but it is present in 2nd and 3rd. I hear it the most when I’m coasting in 4th gear, then give it just a little bit of gas. It only happens when I’m giving it gas. The guys who checked it out said maybe a throwout bearing based on my description (they didn’t drive it) but there is zero noise when the clutch is pressed at all, which doesn’t seem to match what I’ve been reading online.
Let me know! Btw the truck has 119k
