Hi, so I was prescribed doxycycline for a stye but I don't take well to medication at all and have read nightmares about it. Anyone have any good stories? It looks like it's getting better with warm compresses but I know you should take medication if it was prescribed. First picture is from yesterday, second picture from today. I am terrified to take it but also terrified to have an infection spread. I have a tooth extraction coming up in a few days as well, so that's been bothering me a little and also have spinal issues and neck/headache issues which are ramping up anxiety about the infection spreading as I've been dealing with headaches for awhile now and not sure if it's coming from a spreading infection or not. Last night my body temp rose for about 5-10 minutes and was just feeling pretty unwell but it soon dropped again. I'm not sure what to do and am going in circles here. I'm sure a lot of people on this subreddit have gotten styes, just wanting to see if warm compresses alone will keep helping my case. Yesterday morning the stye did come to a head and drained some pus, and have read mixed things online about infection should clear afterwards or still should take antibiotics. Any help here is appreciated. Maybe someone who has gone through the same thing and whether I should wait on the antibiotics or someone who knows what to look out for symptom wise where it has spread. There's too much information that is contradicting online.
