Is it just me or are the elves fully absent from outside the game content?

I looked at many Dragon age comics, books and other things and the elves practically never appear unless they are just slaves in the background, while dwarves and qunari always get major roles alongside humans, often being the protagonists. I saw the mini serie dragon age absolution and there is one elf character we see a bit but thats pretty much it. it did surprise me that they were never included in the extended medias since they play quite a big role in the games.
