destined to be alone it seems?
I have been in quite a few relationships in my time, i have dealt with issues with codependency in the past. i was single for about two years and did pretty intensive therapy to resolve that, and i promised myself moving forward if i were to meet someone i would take it very slow. and indeed i did, and it was amazing and fantastic, until it wasn’t. it was almost like a switch flipped a few months into the relationship & they became very reclused and avoidant. i felt kind of stranded and neglected so i decided it would be best for us to split up, after a few months of trying to address the issue with no results. it was on good terms.
i don’t want to go into too much detail here, but does anyone else feel like there truly is just no one who matches them? i feel like every time i become invested in a relationship, it falls apart, and almost always it’s because the other person begins to pull away. i’m always assured that it’s not me, but im the common denominator in all of these situations.
Is it possible to love people “too much”? i’ve been told by more than one person that i say “i love you” too often, or i am too affectionate, etc. this has only been in relationships.
i have no intentions of dating anyone anymore if im being honest, but i dont want to shut myself down and become a recluse. I just don’t see how to move forward if i am the problem and i am not addressing it.
i’m sorry if this is jumbled, i am quite the mess right now.
TLDR; is it possible to be too loving and affectionate, or too much emotionally, and how do you cope with the feeling of there being no true match for you out there, and your fate is to be single?
