Question about Different Future's ending

I'm honestly a bit confused. Moogle mentioned something about Jack changing the future into one where he and his friend's aren't forgotten, specifically by Chaos fusing with the Lufenian crystal we got from the emperor. He also sorta implied that the "different future" is one where...Chaos becomes a god, a.k.a. the plot of Dissidia?

But after the final story mission where we play as the WoL, we're just back to the actual canon ending of FF1 with some narration saying that the player themselves is the WoL, which is how Jack won't be forgotten. Was the fourth wall break the actual different future that Moogle was talking about?
