Been out of a Subaru and miss it, what should I look at? + my options
#BACKGROUND
Back in 2021, right at the start of "everything", I got myself a 2007 Outback XT. I absolutely loved that car and everything about it, but unfortunately I got it at about 145,000 miles and am pretty sure someone was using it as a project car; the turbo gave up pretty quickly, there were some oddities in the electrical system, and they were finding aluminum glitter in the oil from the first change. For what it's worth, I babied that engine.
When I took it into the shop, the mechanic gave me one of those "we don't want to fix it" prices and told me it was in my best interest to trade it. I did, and got a 2018 Mini Clubman S; basically a Legacy XT in terms of feel, but something about it never felt right to me. One bad breakup later, and my ex wants the car back and I get to wipe my hands of that debt.
#CURRENT
The local dealer to me has some 2025 Outback Premiums for about $32k coming in, one in Quartz Blue which would be my dream color. Alternatively, at an asking price of $33k is a '24 Limited with a bit of an upgrade package, sitting at 11,000 miles. Third option is a '24 Touring, similar price, but sitting at an eye-watering 40,000 miles.
Is 40,000 miles in a year as big of a turnoff as I suspect? I plan on only putting about 10k a year on the car myself, so the Certified Pre-Owned plan of ~5½ years and 60,000 miles doesn't really bother me as much as I'm terrified of what wear it's accrued to it's suspension. Similarly, I want a car I get from about zero so I know what wear is on the car, but I feel I'm overreacting to the 10,000 miles option; that isn't a lot.
Lastly, part of what I want is the blind spot detection. Especially on a bus like a modern Outback -- the car feels bigger than what I was used to in the old one and giant compared to the Mini. The Premium doesn't seem to have that. The dealer kind of told me it would have the same safety features when I was discussing placing a hold order on it.

Am I being a bit too paranoid about the 2024 Limited having any miles on it? Am I wrong in thinking, in hindsight, that this is a much better option for me?
Or should I swallow my pride and take a chance with another, older model?
