What's the point in wireless phone chargers

I don't get the premise of most wireless chargers Like you have to leave your phone on them, you are restricted seemingly moreso than when charging with a cable. And most of the ones I have seen are powered using a usbc so why not just plug in your phone directly?

I've seen some built into train tables, I understand those because it means the passenger doesn't need a cable, but I don't get the premise for personal use
