Fanfics and ChatGPT

Sooo I fell down a rabbit hole and found someone on the AO3 Reddit that asked chat gpt to write a story based off of a series and it turned out pretty good.

So this got me thinking, maybe ChatGPT can write me a fanfic to read when I have a SUPER specific itch to scratch for a specific story and setting I want go read with Drarry. I wrote to Chat all the parameters, dynamics, and just overall what I want from the story, and the first few snippets were SUPER GOOD.

But here’s the thing…

It’s going to take chat A COUPLE WEEKS to complete my 75k + super specific story with character development and smut and the whole shabang.

Now, I’m writing this here for one reason and one reason only. IF this story is any good, and scratches my itch, then this can help anyone else who has a crazy specific story that they are craving and want to read but can’t find it out there.

With that being said, am I going to replace all the fanfics I like to read with chatgpt fics? HELL NO. I love my fanfic writers and their wonderfully creative minds. I’ve read probably hundreds of stories from AO3 writers and I’m not going to stop any time soon. Am I going to be posting said story anywhere? HELL NO because I didn’t write it🤣 and it would be a disservice to post a story written by AI on AO3.

I’ll let you guys know if it’s any good, in case anyone is like me who gets super hyper fixated and craves a story they can’t find. BUT, I wouldn’t say it would be moral or correct to get chat to write stories for you and then post them as if you do, yk?
