No, You’re Not Entitled To A Tip

Rant - General 😠

Submitted a typical weekly grocery order, this time including some low running Clearance items which even combined amounted to very little. Order clearly stated no substitutions for out-of-stock items. The fool who for whatever reason picked this order disregarded it and replaced every out-of-stock item with items much higher in price, nearly tripling the combined price of items which shouldn’t have been substituted in the first place. Rarely felt I more glad that I do not tip. This wasn’t so much about the amount (refund eligible) than the disrespect behind that decision in the first place. Is this some routine move pulled by cowards who feel falsely entitled to tips and figure such sorry moves will make customers acquiesce or something?

I’m sure a good number of these tools call themselves “hard-working” & deserving of tips. Too bad. Look for another job, a change in wage regulation or simply accept that anything not encoded in law is a suggestion, not a mandate - regardless of how widespread a practice may be. But I honestly believe most of them lack the capacity to even grasp any of that. Instead, the dirtiest of them pull little stunts like this over a 4-minute trip. FOUR minutes. On top of that, my state has a min wage for “gig workers” already. But no matter how many unjustified goodies already in place, it’s never enough ofc.

What stood out was the cowardice: If you’re gonna be a jerk, you should have the smoke in-person as well. You quite literally got the address already but leave like a coward before the customer finds out about your little deed.
