Can I plant crocuses this spring to bloom next year?

Same question for tulips.

I want to plant way more bulbs, but by the time it's fall I have no idea where my current bulbs are (leaves are mostly gone by then). I don't want to risk piercing my existing bulbs when digging randomly. I'd love to plant more bulbs now so I know where everything is.

My question - will they rot? Will their timing get thrown off? Is it a waste of money?
