6 week old sleeping all day

Our son who is 6 weeks today (born two weeks early) suddenly is sleeping all day. Has VERY short wake windows to eat and then passes back out. He also is staying up a good portion of the night starting around one or 2 AM and is wide awake. Not crying, but just lays in his crib with his eyes open. Any insight? Is this normal?
