Seeing someone new; mixed signals

I’m 27F and he is 30M. We met on a dating app and clicked pretty quickly (we’ve been talking for a month now). Very flirty, get along well, great conversation. We had a sweet first date and have hung out like 4-5 times. He’s gotten me flowers, reassured me the first couple weeks he’s interested - all the right things. Last week, we saw each other twice and he had initially asked to stay over and then take me for coffee the next morning. When he came by, he said he was anxious and felt it was too soon and that he wanted to be intentional about our first night together. I appreciated that very much. I see him Friday, so it’ll have been a week since then. This past week, he’s been a little distant and not as flirty. He has shared with me that in the past, he’s struggled with commitment and is a very private person but he’s opened up to his friends about me and sees me very seriously. His change in behavior has made me feel a little rejected and I can’t read him. He went from talking a lot to just giving me a call at night (that’s ok) but not really flirty.

Is it ok to ask him what the deal is when I see him? I feel really confused.
