sysprep: new users crippled because default user profile prevents to fire up/reset webcache database.
Hi there,
I am preparing Win11 Images for domain users with Sysprep and the copyprofile = true setting. It should copy over the settings I modified in audit mode via the default user folder to all new login users, which it quite does - HALFWAY: after booting this image to a local admin account (which receives the correct settings) I see two folders: C:\Users\Default and C:\Users\defaultuser0. This already indicates something is not perfectly right .. still I can login with other domain users and their accounts set up fine. The defaultuser0 folder just stays there.
It gets bad after I logged into the PC with my domain Administrator account. In that process, the defaultuser0 folder gets removed and somehow replaced by the Users/Administrator folder. All users I logon to after that have a problem with finding their WebCache database because the database of the Administrator Account is referenced all of a sudden.
Error messages in Windows events look like: process failed "because it encountered references to a database, 'C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\WebCacheV01.dat', which is no longer present."
Meaning: before this Administrator login the transfer of the default profile plus the inititalization of the Webcache database works fine because the path to the database is not hardcoded or corrupt. Why is it the case after that? How could I prevent this from happening?
In my syprep logs the only things I find are these which I deem unrelated: Error SYSPRP BCD: BiUpdateEfiEntry failed, BiExportBcdObjects failed, BiExportStoreAlterationsToEfi failed, Failed to export alterations to firmware. Status: c000000d
