Am I exaggerating hot and cold behaviour?
I (31f) met this guy (37m) 6 weeks ago (2 Feb) and we clicked so well. He had an upcoming one month trip with his friends (starting at 4 March). I told him we can wait until he comes back before things get serious between us, because I will need attention and care in the beginning of a relationship. He said Noo let’s delete dating apps and commit to each other now (we had this conversation at 14 Feb). I said ok.
This man picks up any phone call while he’s with me and talks non stop with his friends (sometimes up to 30 min calls). I did not consider this as a red flag, just found it a little disrespectful to my time and presence.
21 Feb we have our first night together , next morning after breakfast he asks me if I would wait for him at a cafe if he hits the gym for an hour. I said no, then I went to meet a girlfriend because I have only weekends to be outside and have a nice time. I’d prefer to be with him but can’t spend my time waiting.
Next day a friend of his comes to visit him and he ghosts me a while. Ok. He didn’t hit the gym while having a friend over. They spent time together until the evening. I was annoyed, not knowing exactly why I was being dramatic. Something made me feel bad.
Things were still ok (a bit off but ok) for me until he started his trip. He’s not the best texter, and I never received any calls from him. The last 5 days was so painful for me. He can spend my time on the phone with his friends but he wouldn’t even bother texting me back? Today I tried to act mature and be kind, asking why he’s ghosting me. His excuses didn’t feel genuine, which made me very angry, told him we should break up. Then he started being extremely sweet and affectionate. Turns out he’s capable of this.
He says he’s always thinking about me and talking about me to his friends constantly. That’s the problem, you’re supposed to be talking to me sometimes.
Anyways I know it’s a short period of time to judge someone but I’d rather get out of a relationship soon enough if it’s not healthy.
He says he can make it up to me (idk how? I literally had to beg for his attention) Do you guys think this could work out? What he’s doing feels like a big red flag to me, but I’m trying to be realistic.
