I (M18) need some advice on what to do about something happening with my GF (F18). What should is the best way to handle this?

So there are a lot of details that aren’t super important that I will try to cut out to make this a faster read (everybody in this is a senior in high school by the way just for context)

Recently somebody at my school started telling my girlfriend that I've apparently done all of these bad things, we have talked about it, and she understands that I have no way done any of the things that these people are saying I've done, but just a little bit ago she was talking to me about how she feels uneasy in school now because she's afraid people are gonna start talking about her now too. I feel really bad but she's having to worry about all this because of me to the point that I'm even considering leaving her just so that she doesn't have to worry. I don't want to be the reason she has to constantly watch everything she's doing and saying.

I could use some advice on what I should do.
