Would you upgrade or hold off still ? 10900k w/4090
Greets all,
Curious on opinions on what you'd do with a build/situation like mine. My gaming rig is 100% gaming only , have separate computers for work from home. Approx 4ish years old component wise except for ASUS 4090 I got summer of 2023 to put it in an use 3080 for sons build.
Not an extreme fps (frames) gamer , I just like to stay 100fps ish on my 43" 144hz with Gsync without too terrible dips. Older games my machine still crushes most everything locking in a 141 with my Nvidia settings , newer games with max'd out settings that I happen to play still stay quite reasonable , all at 4k.
Usually I upgrade ever 3 years and pass that down to one of my kids , all their computers still doing ok , but I was wondering if I'd see much of a difference with a 9800x3d and newer gen M2 (current one is 970 EVO pro 2TB.)
The 10900k was intel's last all performance core CPU , so it's 10 performance cores still going strong at 5.1 ghz , but I knew cache situations and motherboard improvements have been made obviously along with higher M2 speeds.
But eyeballing things I keep wondering if I'd notice much of anything at 4k doing a new machine if zero plans on replacing monitor with a higher 240hz or such , and am happy with locking in around 100fps with gsync smoothing out dips etc.
