Had a period accident at work- the most mortifying thing ever.

So im young, i work in a bitchy law firm ect.

My period started whilst i was at work and my cramps were so bad i was so close to just packing it in and going home. I was sweating, doubled over almost crying but i didnt leave because im on probation and i dont get paid sick leave. So i took 2 paracetamol and pretended to do work because i couldnt concentrate.

That evening the cramps are still so horrendous i skip dinner and go to sleep at half 7 after taking more painkillers. I heavily debate staying home but decide against it as i have only just returned from a week off sick due to surgery and again- I dont get paid sick leave.

So i go into work, its 9AM and at about half 9 i go to the toilet, come out, everything is good.

Or so i thought.

I come back into the office, sit down at my desk and get on with my work, My colleague who was my friend at the time goes into the toilet, 5 minutes later comes back out running to me saying theres a load of blood all over the floor thats disgusting! By the time i had clocked it was indeed my blood that i somehow did not notice, she had told other people so it was too late for me to go and clean it up myself and call it a day.

By that point, that colleague had got someone to go back into the toilet with her to look at it so i go with them.

I walk in, it is a trail of blood from the cubicle i was in to the toilet sink. How TF did i miss this????? the girls are going, thats disgusting, what kind of dirty tramp does that, tell HR about that! obviously im joining in.

Anyway an email is sent to HR and HR send out an email to all the girls on the office floor basically berating them for this incident. Saying things like, 'this needs to stop now', Please clean up after yourself, be respectful. Honestly, my stomach drops at this point i feel like going home and i feel so guilty and embarrassed.

I can hear all girls saying thats gross, how trampy, she deffo just left it, who does that. And im sat there like, this was an accident ;(. All my work friends were saying the same thing as well, they were all saying, that deffo was not an accident she deffo just left it. My work colleague who i thought was my friend even said to me, i dont think its you but if it was id be calling you every name under the sun you animal.

So im like, well shit.

At about half 3, im just panicking at this point and my phone was broken so i just leave the office and go upstairs to the HR floor and ask if there is a spare phone to hand for me to use. I go into an empty office, dial my mums phone and just cry on the phone to her. Idk if anyone heard me but it wasnt anyone i work with.

I come back down, and the IT guy comes over and goes, how was your meeting with HR? and im like huh? i didnt have one i went to hand my sick note in from surgery and to make a phone call? the IT guy goes, well youre colleague over there says you went to see HR (This is the same colleague who saw the blood and told everyone). So i turn to her and go, there wasnt a meeting what are you talking about i just said i went to hand some paperwork in. Anyway shes like stuttering or whatever but leaves it eventually.

The next morning, that same colleague is now completely ignoring me, is offering everyone else food but me, and has told another one of my colleagues she thinks its me because she i heard her having a conversation with her about it.

I feel like handing my notice in.

I cant tell HR because they wouldnt understand.

What should i do? new job?
