Graduation Project - Opinion on Biomaterials in Graphic Design
Hey everyone,
For my graduation project in Communication and Multimedia Design (CMD), I’m researching how biobased and living materials can be integrated into graphic design. My goal is to explore how these materials can inspire designers to work more sustainably and how they might contribute to mental well-being through design.
Some examples of what I’m looking into:
- Biobased inks and natural dyes for print design.
- Experimental materials like mycelium, hemp paper, and bioplastics.
- Living or reactive designs that change based on environmental factors.
- Generative design based on growing patterns of living materials.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
- Have you worked with biobased materials in graphic design before?
- Would you be interested in using them? What would motivate or discourage you?
- Do you see applications for digital design as well, perhaps through biomimicry?
- What material properties (texture, durability, printability) would be most important to you?
I’m excited to hear your insights and open to any suggestions or discussions about the future of biodesign in graphic design! 😊
Thanks in advance!
