Independent HoF reread?

Anyone ever gone back and reread Heir of Fire without rereading ToG or CoM first? I was one of those folks who couldn’t fucking stand Rowan at first but softened my stance over the course of QoS and EoS and I’m curious to know how hindsight would affect how I view him. It’s only been like 3 months since I read it and right now, the only things I can remember from Aelin and Rowan’s storyline in this book are as follows:

—Rowan punches Aelin in the face —Rowan bites Aelin and is like “I shouldn’t bite another male’s mate” or whatever —Rowan gets her to use her power to keep the fires of some festival going —Rowan helps her defeat the Valg dude which was the first time I thought maybe he doesn’t actively want her dead

I know that’s not fair of me but that’s what it is lol.
