Commencement/Graduation??? Or Not Graduation

Sooo…The university refers to graduation as commencement but commencement by definition is different (than graduation). My question is are there two ceremonies or one? I think the university uses the terms interchangeably but I’m not for certain. As of right now, I only have one date for commencement/graduation and that is called commencement. But on my graduation application the date is different. This date difference could be due to the college’s date for commencement and/or graduation but I have no idea. I’m just confused. 😵‍💫 Does UNC Charlotte do a commencement ceremony(only) and not a graduation ceremony?
