Tonsillitis - should I start my antibiotics?

I’m 38F non smoker, 84kg, 5f9

I got sick 3 weeks ago with a respiratory thing. Congested nose, sore through, coughing sneezing and headache.

A week later I got a fever and spots on my tonsils and a piercing headache in my sinuses Pharmacist prescribed 5 days penicillin which I took and seemed to improve after two days of swollen tonsils and yellow mucus from my nose.

Two days after stopping my cold came straight back, sneezing, then runny nose, then congestion and now swollen spotty tonsils again.

Doctor is running a swab. I don’t have a fever but the swelling and pus and smell has gotten worse.

She gave me a penicillin prescription to take if I wanted but didn’t seem that keen.

Should I start taking it?
