PhD Student lost funding and years of research from VA

I am currently a PhD student at a major university studying kinesiology. I have been with my lab for nearly 5 years now. My lab and all of our research was conducted working with veterans at a VA hospital. Unfortunately, due to the current administrations view of my school, the VA has terminated our contract in the middle of our study. Consequently, I’ve lost years of research down the drain and will not be able to complete this study.

Do I as a PhD student have any possible claim, monetarily or otherwise, against the government or the VA for terminating the contract and costing me years of research?
