Man In The Mirror
The man in the mirror
isn’t reflecting clearly enough.
He’s faded and obscured.
He twists and turns,
flexes and stretches,
trying different poses
all in the hopes of finding the perfect projection,
but no matter how hard he tries
he still remains blurry and undefined.
Is this what he really looks like?
Cloudy like a cold gray day
and as mysterious as a stranger in a deep fog.
Is this the true form that he has come to?
He tries to visualize in his mind
reimagined images of his former person
and piece them together to form
a new picture of himself.
I think the haze is starting to clear up.
I continue to glance at the mirror
from different angles and viewpoints, but still
nothing pleases me about the man I see.
That’s when I realized
that I needed to make a change.
To be a person that I can accept and be glad to look at.
To become someone that I can recognize and see.
So I put on my glasses.
