Rogue River Trail Lodges

I became intrigued with the lodge to lodge hike on the Rogue River Trail south of Roseburg. Currently, Black Bar Lodge only takes rafters and hikers who book through a company. Has anyone tried a modification without using Black Bar Lodge? Are there any trailheads near Black Bar?
