So obsessed with someone I can't function normally.

It's not as creepy as you think it might be, hear me out. I met this person online about 3 months ago, and we text almost everyday, but only like one conversation a day - nothing too excessive. We met through a video game, and we found out we're the same age and one city apart. We talked a lot about shows and family and life and stuff like that.

And I really like them. I really enjoy spending time with them, but it seems like they're pretty busy in life. They take much longer to respond sometimes (like 24+ hours on occasion) and they have a pretty big friend group that we've played with a couple times.

They have a lot of friends in person, especially compared to me who has like 2-3 who I'm close with but rarely spend much time together. I can safely say that I'm pretty isolated right now since I graduated, and almost never get to meet new people. So I'm very confused if these vibes are emerging from my own loneliness or if it's actually mutual.

So the problem begins that every morning I wake up, I check for their message first thing. I go to sleep thinking about them. All the things I found fun before feel much duller now. The only thing I want currently in life is to get closer to this person and spend time with them. And I really want to meet them.

But I feel like they might not be as invested in me as I am in them. They've completely taken over my life right now and since I was pretty free this year in the first place I can afford to do that. I'm not interested in reading the books I wanted to before meeting them, or in the skills I wanted to learn. I've kind of become an empty shell and I hate it. But I can't leave this person behind, because the only time I'm happy these days is when I'm talking to them. It's euphoric. I've never been this honest with someone before.

So what I'm trying to ask is,
Do I try to get over them and get them to be a smaller part of my life? Or do I try to get closer so this frustrating uncertainty finally leaves, risking them pulling away because I got too close?
