Why is Gen Z known to get easily offended?

I’m a young Millennial (or an old zoomer depending on who you ask), but why does Gen Z take things so offensively?

I work in government where the age gap could be 40+ years and these boomers say some pretty offensive things to each other out in the open for everyone to hear but then later on are having friendly conversations.

I feel like shouting at one engineer saying he’s incompetent in front of everyone but then later on asking that same engineer hows their family and going out to lunch with them seems so taboo in this generation.

Why is this?
