Japanese dlc

Hi I recently bought a japanese game card. I have a japanese switch but a european nintendo account. When I open the expansion pass from the game it takes me to the dlc page just fine but I have heard eu dlc will not work with a japanese game card. My question is if I buy it will it work as game takes me to the eu buying page?
